Telford Tigers boss Tom Watkins has highlighted the "night and day" improvement in his side's performance against Basingstoke Bison on Sunday night - just 24 hours after an 11-2 drubbing at the hands of Slough Jets.
A late open-net goal gave the Bison a 3-1 victory as the Tigers - who matched their opponents for much of the game - looked to snatch a well-deserved equaliser.
But with Saturday's night's match showing little of the hard work and determination that Telford's reputation is built on, the Tigers player-coach was happy with their reaction on Sunday.
He said: "We might not have the depth and top-end talent of sides like Slough and Basingstoke, but we get by on hard work and we did that against the Bison.
"We dominated in the first period and had good spells in the second and third periods. We were pushing for the whole game and it was a good, solid 60 minutes.
"Unfortunately, two of the goals we gave up were from our own mistakes. But it was night and day from Saturday, when it was 11 mistakes to two mistakes. Hopefully, we now have that hoodoo off our backs."
Joe Henry and Josh Bruce were the scorers in Slough on Saturday, while Henry was again on the scoresheet against Basingstoke.
New signing Tom Castle gave encouraging debut performances in both games and Watkins has refused to rule our further additions ahead of the transfer deadline at the end of this month.
He added: "There are not many players available for what we can afford and import-wise, it is very difficult to make changes. I just keep my ears to the ground and see if there is anyone available.
"I would like to add another body, certainly to the forwards. It makes it easier to throw the lines together. We changed them against Basingstoke and I thought it worked really well."
Watkins's feeling that his men deserved at least a point from Sunday's game was reflected by Bison coach Steve Moria, who believes his side were lucky to emerge with a win.
He said: "We know that when we come here, we will play a team that is hungry to do well. Last time we played here it was the same.
We barely won in a game that we could have lost and tonight, on the whole, they outplayed us and outchanced us. But we were fortunate."
Telford have a busy week ahead of them, with a challenge game against Elite League giants Coventry Blaze on Wednesday evening.
The 'Best of British' encounter at the Coventry Skydome faces off at 7.30pm. And they will already be looking ahead to next weekend, when they travel to Peterborough Phantoms on Saturday, before the visit of Sheffield Steeldogs on Sunday.
