Telford Tigers were sent home with their tails between their legs after a tough 10-4 road mauling by Swindon Wildcats, with the home side taking clinical advantage of Telford's lack of depth and defensive lapses.
That said, the match started brightly, with Swindon scoring in the opening minute, and Ashley Calvert quickly levelling matters at 2:00. The teams were deadlocked until five minutes into the second period, when Nathan Salem put Tigers in the lead.
However, Wildcats quickly surged ahead, scoring six unanswered goals to take a 7-2 lead into the final session - much of their firepower coming from their strong import line-up - and Tigers goalie Martin Clarkson being replaced by Declan Ryan after conceding his sixth.
Joe Henry hauled one back on the powerplay at 46:53 but Swindon restored the gap before man of the match Calvert netted his second at 53:25. Two more from the home side wrapped it up 10-4.
The Tigers have back-to-back games against Manchester Phoenix, with the home fixture on Saturday (5.30pm), followed by a family race night in the Ice Rink bar, with a return leg on Sunday.
