A pair of superb performances against league leaders Manchester has given Telford Tigers a real lift as they head into the final month of the season.
This weekend sees them away to Basingstoke and then at home to Bracknell on Sunday (5.30pm) - and despite still not adding any points to their tally, Tigers player-coach said that team spirit remains high.
"Last weekend was a bit of a confidence builder," said Watkins. "We have not had many wins over the season, but playing well like we did against Manchester gives the whole team a buzz.
"We are at our best when we stick together and play for each other, and that helps to keep people upbeat and in a better mood."
Basingstoke have proved a tough test so far this season, although never so hard as the 6-0 loss incurred in their first meeting.
Watkins said: "Although we've not taken anything off Basingstoke yet, we have had a couple of close games, especially the first time we went down there. We want to compete like that, play good as a group and keep it solid."
So far this year, Tigers and Bracknell are two wins apiece, although the Bees have been stronger in recent weeks.
"Last time against Bracknell we did create plenty of offence, but weren't able to score," said Watkins. "I'm looking for us to be mentally strong and play with lots of energy.
"We are carrying a few knocks and will be checking players over before the games. A couple of guys rested from training earlier in the week to get themselves right again for the weekend."
Doors open on Sunday at 4.45pm, with the face off against Bracknell at 5.30pm.
