Telford Tigers hit the road tonight (THURS) for a rare midweek game, taking on Swindon Wildcats and hoping to produce a more competitive performance than the last meetings when Tigers were thumped 11-2 and 9-3.
Player-coach Tom Watkins said: “Swindon have a lot of offence, so we must make sure we keep it tight defensively.
“We have been staying in it for large parts of recent games, but fading at the end. We need to keep the intensity up but that’s not easy without the depth.”
Watkins himself missed training this week through illness, and the squad will travel without Ross Hanlon and assistant captain Daniel MacKriel, due to work commitments.
“It is hard to prepare for midweek games, because it throws your routine out,” said Watkins. “But it is just the same for the other team.”
Tigers are at home to Manchester Phoenix on Saturday (5.30pm), with the game followed by a fun family race night in the Ice Rink bar.
