The bid to get the Telford Tigers EPL team roaring again in 2010 has received support from two key ice hockey personalities.

Marek Hornak, top scoring player for the Tigers last year, and currently starring in the Titans ENL side, has added his voice to those aiming to create a supporters' trust to run the team next year.

And Rita Mackriel, junior section chair for the English Ice Hockey Association and a long-serving officer both in Telford and nationally, is also backing the plan to create a new senior team owned and managed by its fans.

Both are expected to attend an open meeting at Telford Ice Rink on Tuesday 3 November (7.30pm) that will outline the proposals and allow supporters to have their say about the future of the club.

Hornak said: "I live and work in Telford and, although I am very much enjoying helping the Titans in their first year in ENL1, naturally I would like to again play Premier League hockey in my adopted home town."

Slovakian Hornak took a hat trick of trophies at the Tigers' awards night in April - most goals, most points and most valuable player of 2008-9.

Rita Mackriel has long been a servant of the sport and, in addition to her EIHA duties, has handled all league liaison for the Tigers in recent years.

She added: "Mike Dixon and Andy Phillips have worked really hard to develop an achievable plan and I look forward to hearing the supporters' ideas on how we can all work together to keep the Tigers alive."

The open meeting will include a presentation by a representative of Supporters Direct, the organisation that provides advice and guidance to more than 150 supporters' trusts, including ShrewsTRUST and AFC Telford United.
