Telford Tigers Fans Consortium - Update
On behalf of those investigating the possibility of a supporters lead consortium to take the Telford Tigers forward, we would like to begin by apologising for not being able to offer an update to fans sooner.
Although we are still researching a number of areas to ensure the proposed supporters trust scheme can be a great success, we just wanted to offer a little update as to where we are.
Since the withdrawal of the new owner, we have been in negotiation with an organisation called Supporters Direct about starting a scheme for the Tigers. Supporters Direct are an organisation that help set up and oversee supporters trusts around the country, directly funded by the top football and rugby league teams.
Being set up to specifically oversee fans trusts in football and rugby, although extremely keen to help however possible, they were unsure what assistance they would be able to offer an ice hockey team.
Our initial contact began a two month process that has seen Supporters Direct hold a number of meetings at director level within their organisation. A number of lengthy telephone conversations between ourselves and Supporters Direct have also taken place during this time, with the eventual outcome being extremely positive.
Supporters Direct are keen to support us in any way they can, and are excited at the prospect of their successful trust model being transposed to a different sport. Additionally, Supporters Direct also feel we have a perfect fan base from which to build, and see no reason why their model cannot be a great success for the Tigers.
Locally, Supporters Direct helped set up the trust at AFC Telford Utd, and have over 150 successfully operating trusts in both football and rugby league right across the country.
The Telford Tigers Supporters Trust are now in a position where we know we have their support, their assistance and the all important trust blueprint; however we still have a little way to go before we can pitch our proposed scheme publically to all.
Meetings are now to take place with both Telford & Wrekin Council and EPL bosses to ensure their support, this before being able to hold an open meeting and launching the scheme officially. These meetings are very important as without a league in which to participate and a venue from which to play we will be simply unable to move forward. We have however already held a successful meeting with Dave & Rachel Candlin, and are pleased to advise all that we have their support.

I hope this small update has in someway provided you a little information as to what has been happening these past few months. As soon as we are in a position to hold an open meeting a press release shall be issued.
We are still keen to hear from anybody that would like to support the trust idea, and if you have any skill you could offer the trust, especially in areas concerning marketing, accountancy/finance and in the legal domain, please contact us by e-mailing us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. On behalf of everybody investigating this scheme I would like to thank-you for your continued patience and support.
